At MSR Canada, we have trialled many different versions of safety fundo kusari for use in Meifu Shinkage Ryu. After a few of trying different formats, we have finally settled for the version in the photo below.

This safety version uses the correct Japanese plastic chain, and has titanium rings connected in either side. The “weight” is soft and bendable, and in correct balance with the chain so there is no lag when swinging.
